2021 Le Mans: Toyota Triumphs, Alpine Endures

A Record-Breaking Victory for Toyota

Toyota Gazoo Racing took the checkered flag at the 89th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, securing their fourth consecutive victory at the legendary endurance race. The #7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid, driven by Kamui Kobayashi, Mike Conway, and José María López, completed 371 laps of the Circuit de la Sarthe, setting a new lap record in the process.

Alpine's Impressive Debut

Alpine Elf Matmut Endurance Team made a strong debut at Le Mans, finishing second overall and taking the victory in the LMP2 class. The #36 Alpine A480, driven by Nicolas Lapierre, André Negrão, and Matthieu Vaxiviere, ran a consistent race and held off challenges from United Autosports and JOTA.

It was a bittersweet race for Alpine, however, as the #35 car driven by Fernando Alonso, Esteban Ocon, and Philippe Cimadomo suffered an accident on the first lap. Despite the setback, the team showed resilience and determination throughout the race.
